the tradition of bohemian brass music lives not only in its homeland, but also in ours. An example of this is the schorgasttal brass band, which has been dedicated to this style of music for decades. The band of the ludwigschorgast music society, one of the region’s outstanding sounding bodies in this genre, presented the audience in the almost full steinachtal hall with a great sound experience.
The bohemian evening has long since ceased to be a secret tip and has been a cultural highlight for the past nine years. The man with the baton, rainer streit, has shaped an orchestra of high caliber over the years with his outstanding musical competence. But for all the precision with which the professional demands his ideas from his musicians, he never oversteps the mark. The sympathetic conductor sees success in community work.
Deputy chairman jurgen friedrich had not promised too much: "today you will hear brass music at its best." Great, how the highly motivated 34-headed ensemble with its passion for polka, waltz and march carried the audience away into a wonderful world of sound. It was a tribute to ernst mosch, he owned three quarters of the entire three hours.
The unmistakable swinging sound in the opening titles is already audible. Difficult and fast runs were contained in the "syncopated polka", all registers mastered excellently with rhythmic refinement and fine dynamics. In a "max and moritz" solo piece, an arrangement by guido henn, rainer streit (baritone) and son tizian (tenor horn) told the lausbuben story in a musical way. Whether he is excited about appearing in front of such a backdrop for the first time? "A little scho", said the 13-year-old. A debut that succeeded brilliantly for him. There is still a lot of potential in the young.
Torsten koch and tristan rupprecht acted as cleaners, beating a hung carpet to the beat of the carpet beater polka.
The second part started with brass band caracho. The band succeeded brilliantly in conveying the words of the title "with heart and verve" in galloping intensity. The fabulous transitions in snappy dominance were always inspiring. Leaning back, listening and dreaming was possible with the well-known melodies "moonshine on the river eger", "stars of the homeland" and "i’m in love with your gentle eyes" announced.
The tuba solo part of moritz pohlmann at the "kellermeister advanced to the absolute high point. Self-confident, holding his powerful instrument in one hand, the 17-year-old, tall lad stepped in front of the stage. After a short introductory cadenza, without any notes, he started playing, accompanied by the orchestra, and elicited fascinating tones from his tuba. At the end of the piece the soloist still reached into the show box. As if he were
he put down his instrument several times, took a breath and fell lower and lower in tone. In the meantime he emptied the last drop of condensed water from the main tuning slide. Thunderous applause erupted. An encore was inevitable.
All in all, the schorgasttaler brass band shone with filigree playing at a high technical level. The beautiful vocal interludes and witty moderations by claudia goller, jurgen friedrich, armin helbig and rainer streit gave the concert a special touch.
At the end, the listener siegfried zuleg from grafengehaig said: "an experience you won’t soon forget. I’m looking forward to the easter concert again."
