Driver's Education Information

The Driver's Education program, offered through the Community School program, thoroughly covers a Georgia Department of Driver Services-approved curriculum. School Resource Officers support the program by providing talks about driver safety on the road and behind the wheel, as well as awareness of passengers, other vehicles, and pedestrians. Vehicle maintenance as a safety issue also is covered.

Students are expected to leave the course with a greater appreciation for the responsibilities involved in getting behind the wheel of a car. Each student will complete 30 hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of 6 hours of on-the-road driving. The student must have a learner's permit before being allowed to take the course.

The cost of the course is $345 and is offered through most Community Schools. Contact the local Community School Coordinator for schedules. Successful completion of the course will allow for possible insurance benefits for parents.
