- Oakland Meadow School’s Climate and Culture Leadership Team in conjunction with the Social Emotional Learning Committee hosted Bingo Night. Our students, their families, and our staff came together for an evening of fellowship while learning about social-emotional learning initiatives at Oakland Meadow School.
- Each and every student at Oakland Meadow School was appointed a mentor through our PAL Program. Students and their mentors connected weekly and participated in events such as Poppin with PALS, the PAL Winter Party, and the End of the Year PAL Party.
- Oakland Meadow School implemented Positive Behavior Support Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school-wide. Students received Black Knight Bucks for being respectful, responsible, role models. Students were able to use their Black Knight Bucks to purchase items of interest and participate in monthly PBIS celebrations.
- Oakland Meadow School’s Student Council focused on building a sense of community this school year through the provision of You Matter backpack tags for each and every student and a Kindness Card for each OMS staff member. They also planned several service projects to support our local school community. These service projects include a Personal Hygiene Collection for the Southeast Gwinnett Co-op and a Pet Supply Drive for the Gwinnett Animal Shelter. Student Council also raised approximately $500.00 for the General Fund through the collection of bottle caps. They also collected tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.
- Oakland Meadow School celebrated the accomplishments of each and every student at our Annual Awards Ceremony and honored four graduates this school year. We also hosted our annual Oakland Life Celebration, where our entire school community came together to acknowledge the lives of three of our students who passed this school year.
- Oakland Meadow School hosted its first-ever International Night. Our school community came together to celebrate the many cultures that represent our students, their families, and our staff.
- Oakland Meadow School celebrated the arts at our Annual Art Appreciation Night. Student artwork was displayed throughout our hallways and interactive art and music-based activities were enjoyed by our students, their families, and our staff.
- Each and every student at Oakland Meadow School participated in a staff-led club of their choice. Students attended clubs on a monthly basis during the school day.
- Oakland Meadow School continued to support our Student Alumni Association. Students who have graduated from Oakland Meadow School represented the Alumni Association at various school events and activities.
- Oakland Meadow School students participated in several field trips this school year. Students attended an in-school music performance from the School of Performing Arts at Central Gwinnett High School. They also attended a virtual author visit with Carmen Deedy and participated in a hands-on learning experience with Zoo to You. Students visited the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center, Aurora Theatre, Yellow River Sanctuary, and the School of the Arts Theatre.
