  • REACH Georgia is a need-based mentoring and scholarship program that provides promising students the support to graduate from high school and achieve postsecondary success. Josiah Artis, a 7th-grade scholar at Couch Middle School, was awarded the state's REACH scholarship, which provides four years of high school mentoring and a $10,000 college scholarship to the most deserving recipients.
  • In Spring 2023, Couch Middle School's band earned a Superior Rating, with Perfect Scores, on the LGPE rubric.
  • RENEW, aka Life Academy, is a mentoring program designed to nurture and empower 8th-grade male students. The RENEW program provides in-depth and holistic support to our young men through exposure, volunteerism, self-reflection, mentorship, and opportunities that help them maximize their greatest potential. Our scholars have participated in workshops on professionalism, effective communication skills, and mastering peer relationships and visited Morehouse College, Grayson Tech, and Maxwell High School.
  • Couch Middle School hosts Noche Latina Night each fall to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Student cultural performances of dance, music, food, and the arts highlight the celebration. During the spring, Couch hosts an International Night where the widely diverse and beautiful cultures of the Grayson cluster are honored and celebrated. Over 800 attendees have participated in the fall and spring festivities, where students demonstrated their powerful connections and passions for their cultures through music, dance, drama, arts, food, and inspiring fellowship.
  • Fall of 2022, Couch Middle School opened the Couch Canteen, which is organized and operated by our levels 3 and 4 Autism students. The Couch Canteen is a coffee shop that offers our Couch staff a wide variety of drinks and snacks. The shop allows our Autistic students to develop and enhance transferable life skills, such as effective communication, social and professional etiquette, and ownership and responsibility.
  • Spring of 2023, the Couch Middle School Drama Club earned 1st Place with superior ratings in Dramatic Performance at Dramarama Festival and performed its first annual Dinner Theatre.
  • Two Couch Middle School students won the 2022-2023 National PTA Reflections Arts Competition, "Show Your Voice." The students were selected as Gwinnett Area 3 Council Winners and State Finalists.
  • 6th Grade scholar Lila Scott was awarded 1st Place for her Visual Art submission. 8th Grade scholar Riya Kothari was a 2nd Place State Finalist for her Photography submission.
  • Couch offers a wide variety of "learning beyond the core" courses that encourage students to consider unique learning opportunities that will expand their experiences. Some offerings include Student Leadership, Business, Marketing, Drama, Robotics, Computer Science, Yearbook Club, and Life Academy. Additionally, our 8th-grade students have seven different course options, which they can receive high school Carnegie Unit credit that will count towards graduation.
  • The Couch Middle School boys basketball team earned 2nd Place in the Gwinnett County Middle School Eastern Division Basketball Boys championship.
