- The Seckinger Cluster is leading the way globally on future readiness. At Jones MS, our students apply their understanding of programming, data science, mathematical reasoning, creative problem solving, ethics, and applied experiences to a variety of unknown problems in order to develop solutions. Students are encouraged to explore AI readiness at different levels.
- Jones MS had 48 projects that competed in the JMS local fair hosted by Seckinger High School. 45 students representing 25 projects advanced and competed at the 2022-2023 Gwinnett Regional Science, Engineering, and Innovation Fair in Athens, GA. We had three projects place first and advanced to the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair. 9 projects placed 2nd, and four placed 4th.
- Jones MS students on the competitive robotics team worked together to build, code, and document the engineering design process. They won an Excellence Award and two Judges Awards and qualified for the State Competition. The school earned the McDonald's Grant to expand the team to include more students.
- 7th grade students at Jones MS participated in a community service project sponsored by The Panattoni Development Company, Alston Construction Company, and Ware Malcomb Architects in partnership with their client Target Corporation, building a 1.4M SF warehouse/distribution center in Hampton, GA. The A-Town Lego City community service project aims to introduce students to the world of development, architecture, and construction, focusing on how artificial intelligence and advanced technologies are embedded in the field. The children experience roles as the general contractor, project manager, construction manager, scheduler, etc. For six weeks, during homeroom, students worked together to build A-Town Lego City. Students were given construction documents, as an actual project team would. At the end of the project, a representative from both Panattoni Development Company and Alston Construction Company hosted an assembly to reveal the final city and took students on a virtual tour of the Target construction site.
- Jones MS had 10 students selected as members for the 2022-2023 All-State Chorus.
- Jones MS had 7 students nominated to compete in the Spring Media Festival for their original representation of Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe. Their performances earned them a spot in the 2022-2023 Media Festival State Finals.
- Jones MS had 3 students selected as members of the 2023 GMEA All-State Orchestra. 8 students were selected as members of the 2022-2023 JMS Cello Choir.
- Jones MS students can engage in various extracurricular activities with over 35 clubs, including Anime Club, Belonging Club, Buddies Club, Girls Who Code, robotics, intramurals, and our newly created girl's intramural soccer team. The Lady Junior Jags soccer team had an inaugural 4-0 undefeated season. In addition, both the boys and girls basketball teams made it to the Super Saturday playoffs.
- Jones Middle School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Operational status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
- Jones MS was named 2022-2023 Readers Rally Division Winner & County Middle School Runner Up.
