  • Summerour Middle School’s 7th and 8th orchestra students participated in the Southern Star Music Festival and earned the Silver trophy. One student was an All-State Orchestra Finalist. For their large group performance evaluation, the 7th-grade orchestra received Excellent ratings, and the 8th-grade orchestra received Overall Superior ratings.
  • Summerour Middle School provides students with the opportunity to participate in Junior Leadership Corps (JLC). Summerour's JLC members had the honor of performing the 9/11 color guard presentation for the mayor of Norcross. At the county's Raider Competition, the JLC Raider team received first place in Tug of War, Sandbag Relay, and Rucksack Run.
  • Summerour Middle School's chorus received an Excellent rating from the Georgia Music Educators Association for their large group performance evaluation.
  • Summerour Middle School students participated in the countywide Tapestry Art Show. Over 30 students showcased their art at the Instructional Support Center. In addition, 25 students showcased art at the Norcross Cluster Art show.
  • Summerour hosted the first annual Cops N Kids event where 8th grade athletes competed against Norcross and school SROs in a basketball game. This community event was designed to raise awareness on connecting law enforcement and youth.
  • Summerour Middle School students participated in the Norcross Cluster STEM Innovation Showcase by conducting demonstrations in Robotics and 3D printing.
  • Summerour Middle School had 12 projects presented at the Gwinnett Science and Engineering Fair. Four projects earned 3rd place, and there was one first-place winner. The first-place project participated at the State Science and Engineering Fair and was nominated for the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (JIC). This challenge is the nation’s premier STEM research competition for middle school students, and only the top 10% of the nation’s middle school science and engineering projects are invited to participate.
  • Teachers at Summerour Middle School not only attend conferences to improve their teaching skills, but they also present at conferences. One teacher presented at the Georgia Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (GATESOL) Conference and the TESOL International Convention. Another teacher presented at the annual Georgia Council of the Social Studies (GCSS) conference.
  • Summerour Middle School offers various resources to ensure that students and their families have multiple avenues to access food. These resources include the school's community garden and the community food pantry.
  • Summerour Middle School embraces diversity of students and its staff. Each year the school hosts an International Night celebrating different cultures. Summerour also collaborated with the City of Norcross to host a Hispanic Heritage Celebration.
  • Summerour Middle School is a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
