  • Parents participated in fun and engaging virtual programs to support student learning, including Literacy Night, Math Night, Computer Science/STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)  Night, and International Night.
  • Students participated in Career Day and learned about various occupations/professions to ensure their future readiness.
  • Teachers and students utilized digital tools and instructional support to increase engagement and academic success.
  • Teachers successfully implemented EL Education, a literacy-based program to support and meet the needs of every student for enhanced literacy development.
  • Teachers participated on local leadership teams to share and model effective strategies for their colleagues.
  • Teachers and the parent involvement coordinator facilitated instructional workshops for parents. These workshops focused on academics and offered strategies to parents to support increased student achievement.
  • Alford offered SEA (Summer Enrichment and Acceleration) as an additional learning opportunity to prepare students for the upcoming school year.
  • The Play 2 Learn program is offered to support neighborhood families and provide them with educational tools and awareness for their preschool-aged children to support and ensure school readiness.
  • Alford Elementary celebrated the achievements of teacher leaders who participated in the Teachers As Leaders, Aspiring Leaders, and Mentor Gwinnett programs and earned Gifted and ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages)  endorsements.
  • Students participated in a reading initiative called Quest for the Kingdom, encouraging independent reading through creative and engaging projects.
  • Alford Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Operational status for its implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) in the last school year. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
