School Highlights
The following school highlights showcase how Brookwood Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.
- Brookwood's students, staff, and community members generously supported many service projects, including Great Days of Service, United Way, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Care Team, Relay For Life, and the Southeast Gwinnett Co-op. Brookwood was recognized as the #2 School in Gwinnett County with donations to the Kids Heart Challenge.
- Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) supports our school by providing resources to classrooms, students, and teachers. Many special events are planned by our PTA to build positive relationships among families. Our PTA also supported the redesign of our "Brookwood Innovation Lab" as a creative space for technology use.
- Our students have the opportunity to participate in many extra-curricular clubs and activities to support student growth. Our students represented our school well in the Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Spelling Bee, Robotics Regional Competition, Witzzle Pro Math Cluster Tournament, Readers' Rally, and the PTA Reflections Contest. Students may choose to participate in many before/after school clubs including: Guitar Club, 5th Grade Chorus, Art Club, Running Club, Intramurals, Robotics, Readers' Rally, Math Club, Minecraft for Education Club, and Drama Club.
- The 5th grade Chorus and 4th/5th grade Guitar Club entertained audiences at a winter and spring performance. All Brookwood 5th graders performed a musical selection at each promotion ceremony. Our student artists displayed their art work in the annual Tapestry Art Exhibit event and in the Brookwood Cluster Art Show. Our Drama Club performed a student directed play in April for families and guests.
- Brookwood Elementary's Entrepreneurship "specials" class encourages K'5 students to create and develop ideas with an entrepreneurial mindset. This Brookwood Cluster initiative allows every child the chance to be an entrepreneur through creative assignments and sharing of business ideas.
- Brookwood Elementary hosts multiple events throughout the year for our students and families. The annual Winter Candlelight Luncheon, Spring Lunch on the Lawn, and the Spotlight on Learning Family Night provide opportunities for families and students to create lasting memories.
- Through generous donations to the Brookwood Schools Foundation, Brookwood Elementary received grants to fund books for classroom libraries and provide innovative technology tools to our new Innovation Lab.
- Brookwood Elementary's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Class, PTA, and the student Environmental Club care for the school's gardens. The gardens help teach children about the environment and how plants and food are grown.
- Brookwood Elementary was recognized as a Taking Action Green & Healthy School in the Environmental Achievement Awards sponsored by Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful.
- Brookwood Elementary is a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for those students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
